Writing tools: Pulsar Edit

all-we-need-is-here.jpg

What's Pulsar Edit?

A plain-text editor designed initially for programmers.

What makes it useful?

  • It's a plaintext editor that doesn't get in the way like a word-processor (although, I'm actually using Markdown )
  • Version control is built-in and fairly easy to use (I'll write a blog post about simplifying Git version control for writers one of these days)
  • Add-ons help the process of writing (see below)

What packages (plug-ins) are useful for writers?

What about formatting manuscripts for publishers?

I'm using Overleaf an online LaTex converter app that's free of charge.

Addendum: Now added Linter Write Good to Pulsar which picks out words that dull or mess up the prose.

https://packages.pulsar-edit.dev/packages/linter-write-good (requires the Linter package, which then auto-loads the Linter-UI package).
