About

Who is LJ Sinclair?

I'm a full-time writer of fiction and non-fiction who lives at an undisclosed location with a housecat, and maintains various communities of bacteria growing in forgotten cups of tea.

I've never heard of you

Well, you can't know everything can you?

So what have you done?

The projects page has a list of projects I'm working on:

Do you have any work here on the website?

I'm writing occasional blog posts for this site, but won't be publishing any fiction because that's how I earn a living.

What about these reviews you speak of?

I wrote TV (AKA streaming show) reviews between around 2010 and 2015 and when I enjoy something or it bothers me, I write a review.

So you've done SEO copy and marketing?

The last marketing job I applied for led to a first interview which went a little like this:

Manager: We're a real estate website

Me: Okay, yes.

Manager: And we want as many of our articles to go viral as possible

Me: ...

Me: Things that go viral have a tendency to be cheap, fun or funny. None of these adjectives apply in this case. And if it was easy to make something viral, everyone would be doing it, and nothing would be. If you get my meaning.

Manager: ...

Surprisingly, I never heard back.

Didn't you used to write software help?

That's right. I don't anymore though.

Your site is a bit rudimentary isn't it?

That's by design. I'm a writer not a graphic designer.

Just to be clear, I've spent a LOT of years working on websites of all types, and in the majority of cases, anything the marketing describes as "gorgeous" and "really easy to use" isn't.

But that's marketing for you: all front and no substance.
